Simplified Correction Process
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has recently brought new tensions to update or correct information in your PF account. Every once in a while, people may need to transition and alter some basic details like the name, date of birth, among other details and despite the change, this has been made easier though one has to produce some essential documents.
New Guidelines for Updates
EPFO has launched the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) version 3. 0 for changing your PF profile. To correct, members need to present particular papers as well as a declaration form laid out in this update. This decision is targeted at solving such issues and achieving the correct results in most cases.
Kinds of Changes and Documentation Needed
The new guidelines categorize changes into two types
Minor Changes: For simple updates you are going to be required to submit a minimum of two primary documents coupled with a joint declaration request.
Major Changes: While updating less important information, it is possible to submit up to two documents; however, if you have to update important details like your name or date of birth, then you are required to provide at least three documents. In case of change related to Aadhaar details, Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar card with active mobile number linking to it will be required.
How to Apply
Through the e-Sewa portal, one can make correction requests and present the required documents. However, it should be pointed out that such changes can only be effected in relation to information concerning EPF account of the current employer.
It is the employer of today that needs to effect these changes because previous employers cannot change information that they provided. Please do so in order for you to be in a position to have PF account details that reflect the new standards.
