Cabinet Boosts Pensioners’ Allowance
Recently in their decision making session, the cabinet headed by Mohan Yadav enhanced the Dearness allowance (DA) for the retired government employees of Madhya Pradesh to a considerable amount. This increase has occurred at a time when there are growing concerns, officials say, on the disparity in employee benefits between states and the centre. Thus, the government has decided to increase the DA by 4 percent to try to meet part of the dissatisfaction of pensioners.
Filling Backlog Vacancies
Besides passing the hike to the DA, the cabinet has considered employment issues. According to the Minister for Madhya Pradesh, Kailash Vijayvargiya, regarding the backlog issue the state government would try to fill 10,000 backlog vacancies soon within a year. At the moment, it is possible to speak about 17 Thousand of vacancies; of which 7 Thousand posts are occupied. The rest of the jobs are still vacant and are expected to be shortly be filled and will therefore offer new job vacancies in the state.
DA Still Trails the Central Rate
However, it is painful to note that state pensioners remain losers by 4 percent in terms of the DA compared with their counterparts at the central level. State civil servants are also optimistic that their pension point will be increased following the lifting of zoning regulation affecting pensioners’ enhanced DA.
