Much has been said concerning the expectation of whether the DA is likely to be frozen to zero or be hiked up. Here is the latest on the DA hike and what a government employee will or will not get.
Current Status of DA
It has for a sometime now been expected that once it gets to this level through floatation, the DA which is currently at 50%, might drop to zero. But as you notice, direct recognition of work has not been reduced in July 2024. Officially the government has also not come forward to make any statement about this alteration.
Battery and Range
The DA for the central government employees continues to be 50% up to January, 2024 and there is no intimation of its further implementation. DA is affected by the base year and alteration in House Rent Allowance (HRA) but there is no specific rule that make it merge with the basic salary in this year.
Expected Increase in DA
New data also indicates that the DA could grow by as much as 3 percent, thus improve slightly. As per the aforesaid AICPI for the period from January to May 2024, the DA could be on the higher side of nearly 53%. Figures from the AICPI for these months show a gradual rise of the DA percentage which in the latest information was pegged at 52%. 91%.
When Will the Announcement Be Made?
It is still worst as the government has not declared the raising of DA yet. An official announcement can be expected to be released possibly in September or October, 2024.
The adjustments for the months from July will be given as arrears to employees since organisational changes can cause strain in their financial status for the month.
